Injection Molds

Class 101 precision tooling that will last through your run’s lifecycle.

Precision Injection Mold Manufacturing, From Design to Validation

Detail Mold & Manufacturing designs and builds injection molds from the ground up, managing every stage of the process in-house, across the full SPI/SPE mold classification range. Class 101 tools are built to run over one million cycles for high-volume, abrasive-resistant production. Class 102 through 105 step down in cycle life and cost, covering everything from sustained mid-volume programs to low-volume bridge tooling and single-cavity prototype builds. We specialize as a Class 101 injection mold maker and build the full range depending on your production volume and requirements.

  • Class 101

    (1,000,000+ cycles)

High-volume production for medical device components, fiber optic connectors, and other programs where part consistency can’t drift across a long run.

  • Class 102

    (~1,000,000 cycles)

Sustained production programs, including overmolding services and multi-shot tooling for parts with multiple materials or components.

  • Class 103

    (~500,000 cycles)

Mid-volume production runs, typically used for programs without the abrasive-material demands of Class 101/102 work.

  • Class 104

    (~100,000 cycles)

Lower-volume production and bridge tooling between prototype and full production runs.

  • Class 105

    (Prototype-grade)

Prototype and pre-production tooling for design validation before committing to a production-grade build.

Start With Your Files

Bring the Detail Mold & Manufacturing team your 3D models and 2D prints, and we’ll come back with a design concept. We work with clients from single-cavity precision builds to micro injection molding tooling and complex multi-shot configurations.

Precision Engineered Before the First Cut

Most toolrooms start with steel. Detail Mold & Manufacturing starts with simulation. Before any machining begins, we run Moldex 3D analysis to optimize cooling, establish process starting points, and run virtual design of experiments. Variables that would otherwise surface as first-shot defects get resolved in software first. The physical build is produced to the high standards of a plastic injection mold maker with over 30 years of precision tooling experience.

FAQs

Production volume is the main driver, expected cycle count, material abrasiveness, and how long the tool needs to hold tolerance without maintenance. We review your production requirements during the design phase and recommend a class that matches your actual run, rather than defaulting to the highest-durability option when a lower class meets your needs.

Yes. We design tooling that’s machine-specific or built to a transferable spec that can run across platforms. If you want to validate the tool before it ships, on-site mold sampling and first article inspection are available.

3D models and 2D prints are the starting point. We’ll need to understand cycle requirements, material, and whether the mold needs to be machine-specific or transferable. If your files aren’t finalized, we can discuss the scope of mold design and engineering before quoting begins.
